Product sourcing in China

China Sourcing Agent for Ecommerce Brands

Apex Hub is a China sourcing agent for ecommerce brands and Amazon sellers. We find and verify the right factory for your product, negotiate price and minimums, manage samples and production, inspect every batch and consolidate it in our Shenzhen facility. Because we also handle fulfillment, the same team that sources your product can store it, brand it and ship it to your customers.

What does a China sourcing agent do?

Buying from China without an agent means finding suppliers on a directory, guessing which ones are factories and which are traders, chasing samples across time zones, wiring money to companies you have never met and hoping the goods match the photos. A sourcing agent replaces that with one accountable partner on the ground.

Supplier search and verification

We identify factories that actually make your product, check business licenses, export history and production capacity, and shortlist the ones that fit your quality and budget. Many of the best suppliers are not on Alibaba at all.

Samples and specification

We collect samples, compare them side by side and lock a written specification (materials, dimensions, finish, packaging) that production is measured against.

Negotiation on price and MOQ

Speaking the language and knowing the local price benchmarks matters. We negotiate unit price, minimum order quantity, payment terms and lead time directly with the factory.

Production follow-up and quality control

We check in during production and inspect the goods before they leave the factory: quantity, finish, function and packaging. Batches that fail go back to the supplier, not to you.

Consolidation and export

Goods from several factories are consolidated in Shenzhen, packed to your requirements and shipped, whether that is a bulk shipment to your warehouse, FBA-ready cartons to Amazon, or single orders straight to customers.

How much does a China sourcing agent cost?

There are three common pricing models in the industry, and it is worth knowing which one you are being quoted:

Commission on order value

The agent takes a percentage of the total purchase, commonly somewhere between 5 and 10 percent. Simple, but the agent earns more when you pay more for the product, which is not always aligned with your margin.

Flat fee per project or per SKU

A fixed amount to source a product, sometimes with separate fees for samples and inspections. Predictable, but can add up across a large catalog.

Itemized landed price

One price per unit that lists the factory cost, the sourcing and quality control fee, packaging and shipping separately. This is how Apex Hub works: you see your landed cost before you commit, and the numbers do not move after the order is placed.

Whatever the model, insist on knowing the factory price and the agent’s fee separately. If the quote is one number with no breakdown, you cannot tell whether you are paying for sourcing expertise or a hidden markup.

Minimum order quantities and how we keep them low

Factories prefer large runs, and a first-time buyer contacting them directly is often quoted a minimum of 500 or 1,000 units. Because we place orders with the same suppliers regularly, we can negotiate smaller quantities: most products start from around 50 units. That lets you test a product with real customers before committing to a container.

Once a product proves itself, the same supplier relationship scales to private label runs with your branding, and the inventory can sit in our China 3PL warehouse for order-by-order fulfillment.

How to find a reliable China sourcing agent

If you are comparing agents, these are the questions that separate a real sourcing partner from a middleman:

01
Do they show you the factory?
A reliable agent names the supplier, shares its license and can arrange a video call or visit. A middleman hides the source.
02
Is the fee separate from the product price?
Itemized quotes mean no hidden markup. One lump sum means you cannot audit it.
03
What does their inspection actually check?
Ask for a sample inspection report. Photos, measurements, defect counts and a pass/fail rule, not a thumbs-up on WeChat.
04
Where does the product go after sourcing?
An agent that also stores, packs and ships removes a handover. Otherwise you need a separate warehouse, prep center and forwarder.

Where we source: clusters across China

Chinese manufacturing is organized by product cluster: electronics in Shenzhen, apparel and cosmetics in Guangzhou, small commodities in Yiwu, home goods in Foshan, plastics around Ningbo. We buy inside the right cluster for each product and consolidate everything in Shenzhen. See our guide to China’s sourcing hubs for a city-by-city breakdown.

Sourcing agent FAQ

Frequently asked questions

A China sourcing agent finds and verifies suppliers for your product, collects samples, negotiates price and MOQ, follows production, inspects the goods and organizes export. You get one English-speaking contact in China instead of dealing with factories directly.

Most sourcing agents charge either a commission on the order value, commonly in the 5 to 10 percent range, or a flat fee per project. Apex Hub quotes an itemized price per product that includes sourcing, quality control and handling, so you know your landed cost before you commit.

Alibaba is a directory: you still have to verify each supplier, manage samples, payments and inspections yourself. A sourcing agent does that work, often with factories that are not listed online, and takes responsibility for quality. For a first test order Alibaba can be enough; for a brand that reorders, an agent usually lands cheaper and safer.

MOQs depend on the product and supplier. Most products start from around 50 units. We negotiate directly with factories to keep minimums low so ecommerce brands can test before scaling.

You receive supplier options with pricing and lead times within 24 to 48 hours of your brief. Samples typically take one to two weeks depending on the product; production lead times are quoted per supplier before you approve.

Yes. We source and inspect the product, then prep it to Amazon requirements (FNSKU labels, poly bags, carton labels) and forward it to the fulfillment centers in your shipping plan.
